Clean Jewelry
You don't need to buy those expensive detergents or specialized solutions to clean jewelry. You can simply use toothpaste! You heard me right.
The next time you need to clean jewelry try dabbing a little toothpaste on it! Trust me you will be truly amazed.
Several months ago I noticed that all of my silver jewelry was beginning to tarnish. I browsed around at my local Walgreens to try to find something that would clean jewelry without damaging it in any way.
I felt that all of the products that were designed to clean jewelry appeared to have very harsh chemicals in them. I could not locate anything that I felt was safe enough to use on my jewelry.
I asked my mom and the ladies at work for household products that could clean jewelry without damaging it. The most common response I received was to use toothpaste.
I was told that using toothpaste to clean jewelry that was not silver may tarnish the metal. I was pretty confident that the bulk of my jewelry was silver and I decided to go ahead and try it.
I put a small amount of toothpaste on my index finger and massaged it gently over the tarnished silver. I then realized that using toothpaste was a great way to clean jewelry after all. The toothpaste took off the tarnish and brought back my jewelry to a lovely, bright silver. Although I have to clean the jewelry this way every month or so, it is quick and simple.
You are looking for a way to clean jewelry but are not sure what kind of metal your jewelry is, you should do a little bit of research before you try anything. Using some substances to clean jewelry may tarnish it and make it impossible to clean it in the future. The toothpaste worked on my jewelry but I do not think that it will work very well on bass or nickel jewelry.
The reason that my silver jewelry keeps getting tarnished is because I keep it very near my bathroom. Every time I take a shower the moisture that is in the air settles on my jewelry and causes it to tarnish.
| I have not yet found a great place to move my jewelry to and have not made it a priority because using the toothpaste has been so easy. If moisture is causing your jewelry to tarnish, you many want to keep it in some sort of container to protect it from moist air. |
Ask your friends and the wise ladies that you know about their ideas on how to clean jewelry. You may discover like I did that older, wiser women always have the best answers is when it comes to household questions. Before you go out and spend any money on a product that claims to clean jewelry, you may find that you have something that will do the trick lying around your house.
So before you decide to go out and spend that extra dollar on cleaning agents for your jewelry why not look around the home first. In fact you can find many uses for those household agents which I'm certain you would never have thought of. The next time you've got to clean jewelry remember head to the bathroom first!
